Paying for the Audi

SO I guess it’s a time for another update. I finally received a call from my dealer that it’s time to come in and pay for the car. We’re picking it up on July 4th, and we went to pay for the car on June 4th. Exactly a month earlier. The payment process was pretty smooth. It took less than an hour. First, we went to our sales guy, talk to him for few minutes, and then he sent us to the finance manager. She was quite nice for a finance manager (I dealt with few of those before), but one thing to remember – she’s there to sell & upsell as well. She already had a stack of papers prepared, ready to be signed. One thing that we had to change – they automatically added VIN etching. I asked her to remove it. She didn’t like that. I don’t know if it was because she had to reprint some papers, or because she wouldn’t make the extra $200 on me. She asked few times if I’m really sure that I don’t want it, and tried to convince me that I really need it. When I strongly refused to buy it, she said: “Well, we can’t remove it, because it’s been already done”. WHAT? lol. I said “No it wasn’t , the car is still in GERMANY”. Her face at that point… priceless. She just smiled and said “Ohh. right, it’s in Germany”. I wanted to slap her, but I guess she already felt embarrassed enough. The rest of the process was really painless and quick, she presented some extra warranty options, upgrade packages, protection plans, key replacement plans, wheel replacement plans – they try to upsell a lot of crap. Didn’t buy any of that. We signed all the papers, paid the down payment, left a personal check for the VAT deposit, which she promised they won’t cash lol, we said good bye. And that was it. Now we’re supposed to receive a package from Audi with all the final paperwork, and car pickup documents / instructions. Plane tickets are already purchased, now we just need to finish up the itinerary planning, and book some hotels. 23 days to go…

Audi website says “US Destination Charges Apply”. What does it mean? Dealer supposed to charge destination fee? Or it’s already included in ED program?

Hi, VAT is 22% it’s due to the dealer at the same time as you sign the final papers and pay. you get the money back after the car arrives back at the dealer. My dealer didn’t cash the check, but a lot of them do.
